The school was delighted to learn that Rheia (Lower Sixth) has received a Gold CREST Award for her Waynflete project entitled ‘Alpha-Synuclein aggregation in Parkinson’s Disease‘. CREST is a UK award scheme run by the British Science Association that recognises success, and enables students to build their skills and demonstrate personal achievement in project work within the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths.

As outstanding as this achievement is in its own right, Rheia’s project then went on to be published in the latest edition of the journal Medical and Clinical Research, an internationally reputed peer-reviewed journal that “aims to publish a wide range of topics within the field of general medicine, advanced medicine, and its related clinical practices”.

Rheia recently completed work experience at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics at Oxford University and it was during her time there when the laboratory suggested that she submit a reworked version of her project for publication. The latest edition of Medical and Clinical Research with her article was released on 8 June 2021.

Many congratulations Rheia!
