About MCS

We are currently a day school for boys aged 7-18 with girls in the Sixth Form. However, this is an exciting time at MCS – over the coming decade, we will become fully co-educational and welcome girls into Years 3 and 4 in September 2027 and into Year 7 in September 2030.

You can join MCS at several points. For the Junior School, entry points are at ages 7+ (Year 3), 8+ (Year 4), and 9+ (Year 5). Places may sometimes be available at 10+ (Year 6). For the Senior School, pupils typically join at 11+ (Year 7) or 13+ (Year 9), but places at 12+ (Year 8) and 14+ (Year 10) may, on occasion, also be available.  There is a further intake for the Sixth Form (Year 12).

Year 6 is not one of our main points of entry but places are sometimes available.  Please contact the Admissions team if you would like to learn more about this as an option.  Please note that we do not offer sample test papers for this point of entry but the admissions process is as outlined for 9+ (Year 5).

Year 8 and Year 10 are not main points of entry but places are sometimes available.  Please contact the Admissions team if you would like to learn more about this as an option.  Please note that we do not offer sample test papers for either of these points of entry but the admissions process is as outlined for 11+ (Year 7) and 13+ (Year 9).

We do not offer places in to Year 11 or Year 13.

We recommend that families first book a visit to attend an Open Event to get a feel for the school. Following registration, the process involves entrance tests and interviews, though requirements vary by age group. Admissions Overview

Yes. We offer generous bursaries and currently around 10% of Senior School pupils receive help with fees. We are committed to social mobility and ensuring that an MCS education is accessible to the brightest pupils regardless of their personal circumstances. We offer means-tested bursaries (worth up to 100% of fees) and various scholarships for academic and co-curricular excellence. Partial bursaries are also available.

Bursaries

Yes. We offer Senior School pupils academic scholarships as well as awards for performance in sport, music, art and drama. All awards are honorary and do not come with a reduction in fees. Awards differ by entry point – please read our Scholarships page for more information and for application deadlines.

Yes. All pupils applying to MCS take our entrance assessments. It is really important that pupils join us able to thrive within our environment, and our well-established admissions process – based on a mix of age-appropriate assessments and interviews – has been honed over many years to help us identify the children with the potential to do well here. Pastoral care is central to life at MCS and underpins everything we do. Our aim is to ensure that every pupil is happy, supported, and able to flourish. All staff contribute to this shared responsibility, creating a warm and purposeful environment in which pupils can thrive. Our pastoral care is underpinned by Lilium, our bespoke wellbeing and PSHCE curriculum designed to equip pupils with the tools to look after their physical and mental health.
