Our 2023 leavers celebrated an excellent set of A Level and Pre-U results. The school was delighted to report that 97% of grades were awarded at A*-B, with 85% at A*-A and 46% at A*. In addition, 47 pupils – 30% of the year group – attained 3 A*s or more and 21 pupils achieved 4 A*s or more.

Pupils will be heading to some of the UK’s top universities including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, St Andrews and Bath to read subjects ranging from Medicine to English and Chemical Engineering to Spanish. 38 pupils will be taking up places at Oxbridge.

Master Helen Pike said ‘Our pupils ought to be proud of their outstanding results. While their success is testament to their hard work, their grades are all the more remarkable given the context – the return of pre-Covid exam grading and their first public exam hall experience. As always, our pupils’ achievements have been enhanced by all that they do beyond the classroom – and by the support of their parents and teachers. We are all proud of our pupils’ tremendous contribution to the local community as well as their participation in national and international sporting competitions.

Individual successes so far include the eight pupils who attained 5 A*s: Benjamin (Engineering, Cambridge), Charlie (Mathematics, Cambridge), Jack (Natural Sciences, Cambridge), Linus (Biology, Imperial), Rosalind (Natural Sciences, Cambridge), Rose (Natural Sciences, Cambridge), Thomas (Music, Cambridge) and William (Classics, Oxford). Tahmid, Head of School for the 2022-23 academic year, attended MCS on a full bursary and achieved A*A*A*A, securing a place at Cambridge to read Medicine.
