Alexander Technique Application Form

Step 1 of 4

  • Introduction

  • The Alexander Technique is a process that teaches pupils how to use their bodies, think in their bodies and to let go of unhelpful movements and thought patterns that don’t serve them. By becoming aware of, and learning to change habitual tension patterns, a pupil can improve how they ‘use’ themselves, allowing for the possibility of healthier and more co-ordinated movement, breathing and balance, as well as a calmer mental and emotional outlook.

The Technique can benefit all aspects of life, from playing a musical instrument, to dealing with exam stress, using a computer or playing sports.

The Alexander Technique is not a quick-fix and, like learning a musical instrument, it takes time and commitment to learn. To get the optimum benefit from lessons, so that a pupil is able to apply the principles and learn to look after themselves, at least two terms (approx.16 lessons) are recommended, although some pupils may wish to continue for longer.

Tuition may be requested using the following form.

    Terms and Conditions

Before commencing a block of lessons, pupils may arrange a trial lesson to experience the Alexander Technique (A.T.) and see if they would like to commit to learning it. This introductory lesson will be charged at £35 for 45 minutes.

If a pupil decides to partake of lessons, they will need to commit to a minimum 8 lesson block at weekly intervals, to ensure they get the most benefit.

The cost is £40 per 45 minute lesson.

If a lesson needs to be cancelled or postponed for any reason, students must give a minimum of 48 hours notice. If notice is given with less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours, then 50% of the lesson fee will be charged. If less than 24 hours notice is given, then 100% of the fee will be charged.

No more than 2 lessons in one term may be cancelled or postponed, otherwise the full fee will be charged for further missed lessons. In extreme cases, such as an ongoing illness, the charge may be waived at the discretion of the teacher.

If the teacher is unable to teach a lesson during a week, it will be made up later on in the term or, if this is not possible, the student will not be charged for that lesson.

The student must be aware that the A.T. is a ‘hands-on’ technique and is taught through gentle touch along with verbal instructions by a qualified teacher.
