The installation of ceramic poppies at Fort Nelson in Portsmouth has drawn in more than 50,000 sightseers since its opening.

Fashioned from hundreds of the flowers displayed at the Tower of London in 2014 as part of the piece Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, the wave at Fort Nelson is the work of artist Paul Cummins and designer, and OW, Tom Piper (1983).

The poppies have been distributed up and down the country as part of the 14-18 NOW campaign, marking the centenary of the First World War.

Since the project began in 2015, Tom’s poppies have been exhibited at 14 different locations and have attracted over 4 million visitors.

The wave will be on display at Fort Nelson until 24 June. You can read more about the sculpture at the Royal Armouries here.
