On Thursday we welcomed Mark Logan MP to MCS to give a talk to J4 and Lower Fourth pupils learning Mandarin. Prior to his election as MP for Bolton North East in 2019, Mark worked in the Foreign Office at the British Consulate-General in Shanghai where he was responsible for media and communications and speaks fluent Mandarin.

Mark discussed his time in China and the difficulties he faced when trying to speak Mandarin for the first time. He also quizzed the pupils on their Mandarin vocabulary before very generously opening the floor for questions! The boys asked Mark about his experiences learning Mandarin, his responsibilities as a politician and his views on current political issues.

Following his talk, Mark met with the Master, Usher and a number of other members of MCS staff and pupils. We are very grateful to Mark for so generously giving up his time to visit the school – thank you!
