We’ve recently been covering the journey of OW Tom Piper’s (1983) poppies as they toured the length and breadth of the UK.

From Portsmouth to Stoke-on-Trent, the wave of ceramic flowers that once made up the commemorative installation ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’ at the Tower of London in 2014 have been on quite the expedition in recent months, attracting millions of visitors as they went.

Now, the touring tide will split, finally cascading simultaneously towards London and Manchester. ‘Wave’ will go on display at the Imperial War Museum North, in Greater Manchester, next month, while ‘Weeping Window’ will be shown at its counterpart in the capital.

Together, both exhibitions number 11,000 of the 888,246 poppies originally installed at the Tower of London.
