The Waynflete Office has been informed of the death of Gordon Acaster on 14 September 2022 at the age of 89.
We are grateful to Gordon’s wife Jane who sent us these words about Gordon’s life:
Gordon did keep up with his rugby interest for a while, playing for Oxford RFC and also for Oxfordshire. He worked for the Atomic Energy Authority and then the Science Research Council in their Accounts Depts and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Secretary when we moved to South Africa. Because of the worsening political situation there we eventually came back to settle in Amersham. After many years commuting to London, and sometimes Brussels, in various jobs, he spent his last very happy working years as the Practice Manager for some of the local G.P.s. Having taken up golf as a hobby in Cape Town, he joined our local golf club and spent many happy hours on the course, especially in his retirement with the other Senior Members. He was also an active member of the Lions Club but serious health problems eventually took away his mobility.
He had three sons and five grandchildren of whom he was very proud.
