Friends family and OW classmates were saddened and shocked to learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of our dear friend Andre Tansley on 23 September 2021.

My MCS memories of Andre revolve mostly around our time in the RAF Cadets with Flt Lt. Barrett. Saluting with the wrong hand at RAF Valley to a passing officer in a car who screeched to a halt and tore a huge strip off us. The summer camps that followed at RAF Fleet and RAF Lossiemouth were legend.

We shared a love of Oxford Rebels Speedway attending the weekly meetings in Blackbird Leys with David Barrett and Keith Frewin. We kept in touch during University but life got in the way and we saw less of each other. Indeed Andre became my parent’s third son at times in his twenties spending more time with them in Stadhampton than I did.

We recently met up again on one of my trips back from Singapore to the UK, both of us with our adult lives to look back on. Thirty years had passed but it was as if we had never missed a beat. He was full of great stories and we reminisced about our time at MCS with great fondness.

Andre was devoted to his lovely wife Cindy and I am sure you will join me in sending our deepest sympathies to her. I am still coming to terms with his passing; I will miss him.
