MCS partnerships project Rose Hill Community Larder was visited by the Lord Mayor of Oxford and presented with a certificate in recognition of its “outstanding service to the community”.

Councillor Mark Lygo visited the larder on Tuesday 11 May to present project volunteers with a certificate. The award also “recognises the appreciation of the residents of the city of Oxford for enhancing the life of the community”.

Mr Lygo met with the Master Helen Pike and Lower Sixth pupil volunteer Will to see the work taking place in Rose Hill by members of the MCS community.

Anne Kenyon, CSO Co-Ordinator, said of the visit: “It was an honour to be able to welcome the Lord Mayor to the larder and to receive this award. Our volunteers enjoyed the opportunity to show him around and explain our three aims – reducing food waste, making good food affordable and bringing local communities together.”

Rose Hill Community Larder has grown considerably in recent months, with 80+ regular members visiting each week.

During Covid19, the project has been staffed by parent and staff volunteers, but it is hoped pupils will return as part of their CSO activity next term.

Rose Hill Community Larder runs on Tuesdays from 2.15 – 4 pm at Rose Hill Community Centre. Everybody is welcome. Find out more on their Facebook page.
