MCS was delighted to welcome Peter Chavasse ,great nephew of OW and celebrated war hero Noel Chavasse VC and Bar, as part of the School’s Remembrance Day commemorations today. Captain Noel Chavasse, twice awarded the Victoria Cross for his valour, died at the Battle of Passchendaele 100 years ago.

Peter was invited to lay a wreath on the Chavasse paving stone on the corner of Cowley Place and then later during the School’s main service. It was particularly poignant to have him present during the Sixth Formers’ reading of the names of the fallen OWs from both World Wars. Today was his first visit to MCS since the unveiling of the blue plaque honouring Chavasse, set on the wall of the School House.
