We are delighted to welcome fellow educators to Magdalen College School today, Thursday 6 November, for the annual Schools Partnerships Alliance (S.P.A.) conference.
A movement close to our heart, the S.P.A. seeks to encourage collaborative working between schools in all educational settings, to improve outcomes for all young people.
During a packed programme, 150 representatives from various state and independent schools will come together to share practice and explore how partnerships can contribute to addressing current challenges in education. Alongside S.P.A. CEO Dr Joseph Spence, attendees will also hear from sector leaders including Lou Bennett (IDPE), Ian Davenport (Hg Foundation) and Andy Wolfe (National Society for Education) – plus maths teacher, author and broadcaster Bobby Seagull.
During the day, guests will be invited to see an MCS partnership in progress – visiting our second Oxfordshire Schools Climate Conference, OxCOP, at Oxford Town Hall. Delivered in partnership with schools across the county, the event is designed to give pupils an opportunity to learn more about climate change in a debate and negotiation modelled on global COPs.
Speaking ahead of the conference, Helen Pike, Master, said:
“It is a pleasure to welcome the S.P.A. and so many colleagues to MCS and to Oxford, to celebrate, advance and learn from our experiences, and to widen our collective impact through educational partnerships.”
Rohan Edwards, Deputy Head (Education Development), said:
“At MCS we are deeply committed to supporting a diverse partnerships network, and firmly believe that developing deep, broad and mutually beneficial links with schools and organisations in the city and beyond improves educational opportunity and outcomes for all. It is a privilege to be joined by S.P.A. members who share this belief. I am looking forward to discussing how a collaborative focus can help communities and school partnerships to continue delivering positive educational impacts into the future, and learning more from colleagues in the maintained and independent sectors.”
