A Level Results 2026

Helen Pike, Master at Magdalen College School, Oxford, has congratulated pupils on their “outstanding success” in this year’s A Level exams, after more than a quarter of pupils (43) achieved three A*s or more and 25 secured all A*s.

97% of grades this year were awarded at A*-B, with 82% at A*-A and 43% at A*. The most common grade awarded to MCS pupils was A*, and 70% of the cohort (117) secured at least three A*/A grades.

These results follow months and years of effort and will see pupils move on to top universities in the UK and around the world – including Enoch, Kevin and Jasper who each achieved five A*s and are headed to Oxford, Cambridge and Princeton Universities respectively.

Earlier in the year we learned that a third of pupils from our 2025 cohort took up places at global top ten ranked universities, according to the QS World University Rankings.

In total, 39 pupils from the 2026 cohort will be heading to Oxbridge, while 22 have secured places to study Medicine. We are glad to confirm that students from our partner schools will be joining them, having taken part in our preparation programme for the demanding entrance assessments required by these universities and courses.

Many pupils came into school to collect their results and celebrate with their friends – including:

• Zara and Thomas, our Heads of School, who both achieved A*, A* A*, A. Zara will be studying Medicine at Cambridge University and Thomas is joining Durham University to study Natural Sciences.
• Kevin, who has represented the UK at the International Mathematical Olympiad and recently won Gold in Shanghai. Kevin achieved A*, A*, A*, A*, A* and moves to Cambridge University to study Computer Science.
• Freya – talented star of our recent Singin’ in the Rain and Sherlock Holmes and the Napoleon of Crime productions – who will join Oxford University to study Theology.
• Our sports captains – Sophie (Hockey), Ross (Hockey), Wendy (Tennis), Louis (Tennis), Tom (Sailing), Alex (Cricket), Ana (Cricket), Zach (Rugby), Rishi (Rowing), Becky (Football), Saralynn (Football), Taran (Cross Country), Zahra (Badminton) and Rosie (Netball) – who all secured at least three A*/A grades while representing MCS at the highest levels in their sports.
• Musicians Lixuan – our First Violinist, who will join Cambridge University to study Medicine after securing A*, A*, A*, A; and Adam, Tenor, who performed solos at the Sheldonian Theatre and Madrigals, and will join Oxford University to study Music.
• Olivia, who came top in the school’s Waynflete Studies extended research programme for her work on bats and viruses. She achieved A*, A*, A, A and will be studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge University.
