James Coles (Fifth Form) has been awarded the Sir John ‘Jack’ Hobbs Silver Jubilee Memorial Prize for the most outstanding under 16 schoolboy cricketer in England.

James, who also won Oxford Junior Sportsman of the Year last term, will be presented with his award by the President of the MCC at the Oval on Friday 27 March.

He has also been awarded the Gray Nicholls Trophy 2019 for the most improved schoolboy cricketer. Of the winners since 1977, an impressive 12 have gone on to play for England so we have high hopes for James’ future success.

James is photographed here with England Cricketer Sam Billings collecting his Grays Nicholls Trophy in December:

"It’s been an amazing few months winning these awards, and very much an honour they are. My next challenge is to impress the coaches at Sussex this Summer"
