This term’s major production was Guys and Dolls, an ever-popular and challenging musical comedy. The forty-strong cast rose wonderfully to the challenge of the demanding choreography, delivering an ensemble performance which was slick and highly entertaining from start to finish.

Much of the comedy was provided by Will A and Ilona S, who brilliantly portrayed the mismatched couple Nathan and Adelaide, while Bella C and Tom K excelled as the romantic leads Sky and Sarah, with some first-class singing and compelling acting. Elliott G as Nicely-Nicely Johnson gave a bravura performance which brought the house down in Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat, and there were numerous other strong character performances from among the talented cast.

The vibrant chorus numbers, supported by a top-notch band under Mr Cullen, brought to life New York’s shady underworld of gamblers and nightclub singers. The backstage crew also deserve much credit, having been exceptionally committed and creative. Their contributions to set, costume, props, lighting and sound designs all played a vital role in the show. Much credit must also go to Resident Producer Mr Alex Lui, who has overseen the logistics for all this term’s productions. As ever, thanks are due to Mr Thomas, Head of Drama and all the other staff involved, and to the many pupils who have participated on stage or behind the scenes with such dedication.
