As part of this year’s centenary of the death of OW Noel Chavasse VC and Bar, OW Richard Robinson (1966) led an OW trip to Liverpool on 14 September to attend Evensong, a Commemorative Pageant and a private viewing of the Chavasse Exhibition at the City’s Cathedral. Accompanied by Director of Alumni Relations Alan Cooper, six OWs joined the Liverpool Scottish Regiment (who Chavasse was attached to as a medic during the war) to honour his bravery and the sacrifices of his family.
Richard reported: “The Lord Mayor spoke eloquently in honour of Noel Chavasse and other distinguished members of his family, including Bishop Chavasse himself, who was the chief driving force behind the building of the Cathedral, and another son, Aidan Chavasse, who went missing presumed killed just one month before the death of Noel, and a third son, Christopher, an Army Chaplain who survived WW1 and later became Bishop of Rochester”.
Christopher also attended MCS along with his brother, and later went on to be Master at St Peter’s College, which was founded by their father.
