MCS was informed by his wife Heather that Michael died on 9 May 2013. Heather wrote:
Michael was a scholarship boy from Standlake. On leaving school he obtained a librarianship to Christ Church College, Oxford, where he studied Classics and was proud of his half blue for hockey. For the next 36 years he was a master at Haileybury Junior School, Windsor. He taught Latin and Divinity. He was a well-respected teacher who enjoyed prep school life with its sporting activities and other ups and downs. We retired to Bognor Regis where we made many new friends. He was a keen gardener and birdwatcher and enjoyed going on holiday as well as spending time with our three daughters and five lovely grandchildren.
