The daughter of Major Tom, Gay Meggitt, informed us that her father passed away on 13 January 2009, aged 87. He died in Australia where he was happily retired and near to his family. He last visited MCS in 1999 and remembers proudly his time, including being bowled out by the impressive Captain of cricket, Stuart Pether, with D L Clarke as Head of School, and Flick Simmons Head of Leicester House. He also remembered his first form Master Major Shepherd.
He was proud of his eleven grandchildren all born in Australia and had two daughters, Gay and Jill. Our thoughts are with them.
