Regional Finals

A squad of 11 girls (plus 1 injured supporter and an ill captain) played 6 matches throughout the day. With 4 wins and 2 losses, MCS finished joint 2nd in their group. Final positions and a chance to play in the semi-finals went down to goal difference. Despite beating them in the final fixture of the day, Barton Peveril finished second having gained an extra point against Worthing for a half score. Although MCS beat them on goal difference, the head to head result confirmed Bradfield College in 3rd place and MCS in 4th. The squad put in performances to be proud of and proved themselves worthy contenders in a high-level competition.

Sailing

The Sailing 1st team spent the weekend at Warwick University’s annual event. The first day brought four wins from four races against university teams from Oxford, Imperial London and the only other youth team, Cokethorpe.

On Sunday the team added wins against Exeter, Portsmouth, and London universities, heading into the knockouts undefeated and at the top of the leaderboard. However, losses to Durham and Warwick Alumni in the knockouts left Magdalen 4th of 21 teams overall – a strong result by any measure, but especially at this stage in the year.

Team of the Week

There were strong contenders in the U13 and 1st XI hockey sides, but this week it is the 1st team netball squad for their fantastic performance at the Regional Finals.
