Last week, twenty-two pupils spent a gloriously sunny day perched on the top of Boars Hill at the Carmelite Priory, founded in 1963 when the Carmelite Order purchased the former home of Poet Laureate Robert Bridges. This year was the eighth school retreat here as, unfortunately, due to Covid two previous planned retreats were cancelled.

The theme of this retreat was ‘Called to be Saints’ (Romans 1:7) and group activities and time for prayer were interspersed with football and the game Empires, as well as snacks. Led by the chaplain, Dr Kostyanovsky and Dr Shrimpton, those participating came from the middle school and sixth form. Everyone is now looking forward to a two-day residential retreat next year.
