Looking for a creative challenge?

Over the Easter holidays, pupils will have the opportunity to enter this year’s all-school drawing competition entitled: ‘Work in progress’.

Competition details

Entires can be inspired by nature, those around you, something that you are currently working on or for a more conceptual idea, a self-portrait, for example. There will be individual prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and highly commended work from Lower, Middle and Upper school age groups. Work will be judged as much on the idea as the execution. Maximum two entries per person.

How do I enter?

Please email a photo of your drawing to Mr Hunter (thunter@mcsoxford.org) by Sunday 19 April, 6pm.

Work will be put up on the school’s Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages as it comes in.

About the medium

Drawing is one of the oldest forms of human expression within the visual arts. It is generally concerned with the marking of lines and areas of tone on to paper. Drawing is often exploratory, with considerable emphasis on observation, problem-solving and composition. It is usually performed with ‘dry’ media such as pencil, chalk or pastel but almost anything that makes a mark can be used.

Good luck!
