Former MCS pupil Adrian Yung Hau-tsuen is the first men’s skier to represent Hong Kong in alpine skiing. At 17 Adrian is the youngest member of the Winter Olympics team participating in Beijing.

He first tried skiing as a toddler on holiday in Japan and got the bug! Aged eight and living in the UK, he started ski racing and training with the DHO (Downhill Only) club, one of Britain’s largest alpine ski clubs. At 12 years of age he was selected for the under-14s English national squad and from then on had his sights set on the Winter Games.

Adrian says he has always loved speed and is an adrenaline junkie but was surprised to qualify for Beijing. ‘I was not really thinking about getting the opportunity for the Olympics. I thought I’d have to work for a few more years. When I got the message from the Ski Association saying that I qualified, I was in disbelief. It was a childhood dream, and I didn’t think I could reach it this quickly.’

We wish Adrian good luck with the Giant Slalom and Slalom events that he is competing in.
