While many of us were taking it easy during half term, Milly (Lower Sixth) was completing a grueling one hundred mile run in just over twenty-seven hours.

The Javelina Jundred is a unique Halloween-themed ultramarathon that takes place in McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Arizona. The event encourages fancy dress for the runners, the aid stations are brightly decorated and there is even a prize for the best costume.

The terrain is sandy, rocky and full of cacti and the desert setting presents yet more challenges as it moves from a shadeless 35 degrees in the daytime to just 10 degrees in the evening. Milly had to wear a head torch at night to find her way in the dark.

Milly trained and prepared for a year before taking on the challenge and her amazing efforts were rewarded with the ‘Youngest Finisher’ trophy.
