We may well have been distanced from each other, but that did not stop the Junior School from celebrating World Book Day in its own inimitable style!

Assembly was a wonderful riot of colour and festivity as the boys and staff donned their ‘masks with a difference,’ which had been created in anticipation of marking World Book Day. Our special assembly included many of our staff sharing a wide range of fabulous poems for everyone’s enjoyment, but a special mention must go to our newly discovered ‘MC Whelan’ and his magnificently written rap extolling the virtues of what it is to be a part of the MCS JS community. The boys have been begging for a repeat performance of this fabulous ‘Ode’ ever since!

The JS boys then enjoyed an entertaining virtual author visit from Robin Stevens about her ‘Lady most Unladylike’ series. Many pupils are already familiar with these titles which are stocked in the JS library, but I expect the demand for these to increase over the coming weeks as boys clamour to read them all!

To commemorate the value and enjoyment we take from reading, the boys were tasked with selecting a memorable quote from a favourite book and designing an inspiring poster. Mrs Birket has been working her way through these creations and allocating house points to the boys for their ingenuity and effort. We look forward to displaying these with pride around the school and sharing the JS enthusiasm for reading as widely as possible!
