“This strong report is the result of the sustained commitment of colleagues and pupils, and owes much to the support of parents and Governors"

Helen Pike, Master

To reach their findings, the inspectors observed 21 lessons, examined samples of pupils’ work and held discussions with members of staff, and the chair of governors. They also took the opportunity to observe the many extra-curricular activities that occurred during the inspection period, and attended form meetings and assemblies. The responses of parents, staff and pupils to pre-inspection questionnaires were analysed, and the school’s curriculum was examined. MCS was found to have met regulations in all areas.

The Regulatory Compliance inspection sits alongside the ISI’s more comprehensive Educational Quality inspection, which MCS received in March 2017. In this report, the ISI praised the “remarkable school” with its “incredibly rich opportunities”, where “pupils’ achievements are exceptional”.

"We sailed through inspection during a week which also saw pupils receive 44 Oxford and Cambridge offers and increased numbers of pupils sitting our entrance exams."

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is the body approved by the Department for Education for the purpose of inspecting schools belonging to Independent Schools Council (ISC) Associations and reporting on compliance with independent school regulations. ISI inspections are also carried out under arrangements of the ISC Associations for the maintenance and improvement of the quality of their membership.

Master Helen Pike said of the result: “This strong report is the result of the sustained commitment of colleagues and pupils, and owes much to the support of parents and Governors.  We sailed through inspection during a week which also saw pupils receive 44 Oxford and Cambridge offers and increased numbers of pupils sitting our entrance exams. We are a busy and thriving school!”
