Members and friends of the MCS Russian Club gathered on Friday night to celebrate Russian food and culture.

The programme included poems by writers as diverse as Pushkin and Pasternak and music ranging from Tchaikovsky to Scriabin.

The oldest performer was Valentina, a Leningrad siege survivor, who recited a passage from Evgenii Onegin. Another highlight was a spirited rendition of the wartime song Katyusha by a band of Upper Fourth Formers.
