Kevin wins Gold Medal at International Mathematical Olympiad

Congratulations to Upper Sixth pupil Kevin for winning a Gold Medal at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), one of the world’s leading mathematics competitions for school pupils.

Held this year in Shanghai, the IMO brought together teams of six pupils from more than 100 countries. Over two days, competitors tackled six challenging mathematical problems designed to test creative thinking, logical reasoning and problem solving.

Kevin earned his place on the UK team after progressing through a series of national competitions, including the British Mathematical Olympiad, where he achieved full marks in both rounds. His performance at the IMO placed him among the competition’s Gold Medal winners, an achievement awarded to only a small proportion of the international field.

Kevin was one of six pupils selected to represent the United Kingdom. The team returned with an impressive tally of two Gold, one Silver and three Bronze Medals, finishing equal 8th among the 117 countries taking part.

Just a few weeks later, Kevin achieved further international success, gaining an Honourable Mention at the International Linguistics Olympiad in Romania.

Well done to Kevin on this outstanding achievement and for representing both MCS and the United Kingdom with such distinction.
