It was wonderful to be joined by the 546th cohort of new pupils, and their parents, at a special Service of Welcome at Magdalen Chapel yesterday. Just a few days into term at their new school, the pupils walked across Magdalen Bridge in the sunshine and through the gates of the College from which MCS was born more than half a millennium ago.
They were joined by the school choir, for its debut performance of the year, which included a superb rendition of the school anthem, The Lilies of the Field. In a memorable address, the Master shared more about the school’s founding by William Waynflete in 1480, and the special community of which they are now part.
As they left, each pupil shook hands with the Master – a long-standing MCS tradition which they will come to repeat after their leavers’ service in Upper Sixth. We are delighted to extend a very warm welcome to all pupils and their families!
