Runners from across the MCS community competed in the Bidwells Oxford 10k this weekend. Known as the Oxford Town & Gown, the name refers to the long-standing relationship between the city of Oxford and the University of Oxford. The run was started in 1982 to raise money for muscular dystrophy and to this day all profits raised from the event still go Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Pupils, parents and staff all took part, this year boosted by glorious May sunshine as they made their way around the course. As the only closed-route race in Oxford, the event offered a unique opportunity to run on city roads amidst Oxford’s scenic landmarks and historic charm. Alongside the 10k event, the was a 3k route for younger runners aged 9-15. Special congratulations to Kuzey, who finished 4th overall in the 3k race with a time of 9 minutes 47 seconds.
Miss Kirsty Rooney, Head of Upper Sixth and Charities Co-ordinator, took part just two weeks after running the TCS London Marathon. Kirsty completed the race, running to raise funds for MCS partner school Mustardseed Junior School. If you would like to donate towards this year’s fundraiser, please click below.Â
Many congratulations to all those who ran on Sunday, we hope everyone enjoyed the occasion! If you would like to take part in next year’s event, early-bird registrations are now open. The Parents’ Association have created the group ‘MCS2026‘ which you can join during the sign up process and will allow them to identify how many MCS runners are taking part.
