Today our Junior School was delighted to welcome the author M. G. Leonard for a special talk on her inspiring work. It was a pleasure to host not only our own pupils but also pupils from local junior schools, who joined us for the opportunity to hear from a writer whose books are enjoyed by so many young readers. Leonard spoke warmly about the inspirations behind her stories, particularly her lifelong fascination with animals and insects. She shared photographs of herself observing beetles and explained how her curiosity about the natural world often sparks ideas for her writing.

During the talk, she encouraged pupils to stay inquisitive and to notice the small details of the world around them. Whether exploring the garden or watching wildlife, Leonard explained that inspiration can come from simple moments of discovery. She also spoke about her fascination with doors and keys, symbols of mystery and adventure, and drew a thoughtful link between this idea and the concept of musical keys, which helped inspire elements of her imaginative series, Time Keys.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning for both our Junior pupils and our visiting schools. At the end of the session, many pupils were pleased to have their books signed and to briefly meet the author in person. We are very grateful to Leonard for taking the time to visit and for sharing her enthusiasm for storytelling and curiosity with such generosity.
