Magdalen College’s Grove Auditorium was the venue for a spectacular Chamber Concert performed by MCS pupils. The concert featured our top musicians who have been playing in a variety of chamber groups since September. In the past few weeks, they have also benefited from masterclasses from visiting musicians.

The standard of every item was superb, but mention should go to Marion Ackrill who will be leaving at the end of this term, and so this was the last performances of a number of ensembles under her direction and it was wonderful to hear Concert Wind perform Finale Furiant from Dvořák’s Czech Suite.

The concert also featured a wonderful choral piece A Little Boy Lost, written especially for the occasion and directed by Olly D. It was also the final time to hear the Wilson Piano Trio (Quinn, Kevin and James) who have performed to such a high standard for a number of years. This year they gave a beautiful performance of the final movement of Ravel’s Piano Trio. They will be in action again in the Oxford Festival of the Arts this summer when they will be performing Beethoven’s Triple Concerto.
