Julia Edwards, historical fiction author of The Scar Gatherer series, spoke to Junior School pupils from MCS this week about her books and answered some of the boys’ burning questions.
Her much-loved The Scar Gatherer is a sequence of time-travel adventures, beginning when Joe Hopkins accidentally slips through time and finds himself in Roman Britain. It’s the start of an adventure that takes him all the way through history up to WW2!
After a captivating reading from the series’ first book, The Leopard in the Golden Cage, Julia quizzed the pupils on their knowledge of how Romans went to the loo, and what they used to clean their teeth – questions they gleefully answered!
It was a hugely enjoyable event and we are very grateful to Julia for visiting.
