Congratulations to five of our Upper Sixth chemists – Tashika, Aiden, Wendy, Kevin and Enoch – for battling through dozens of demanding questions to finish in 2nd place in their heat and 3rd place overall out of 103 schools at the 7th Annual UK Chemistry Race, held recently in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge.
In the Chemistry Race, teams begin with six questions, and each question is exchanged for a new one once the correct answer is obtained. This continues for two hours, with questions covering all aspects of physical, inorganic, organic and analytical chemistry. Teams often have to apply chemistry knowledge beyond the A Level specification in creative ways.
The team showed great tenacity and exceptional subject knowledge, and should be very proud of their achievement. Well done Au-somes!
