It was wonderful to welcome our pupils, parents, and staff to our annual photography competition, with the theme this year being ‘Black and White’. The competition was designed to challenge pupils’ perceptions of the world around them, and to inspire them to consider and interpret what they see when colour is stripped away.

Explaining the concept, MCS Artist in Residence Liliana Vieira said:

“We live in a world of colour. By removing it, we are transported into another realm entirely, one that operates by different rules, where light and shadow do all the work. These photographs strip away the colourful distractions of everyday sight, leaving only what cannot be faked: emotion, texture, and storytelling. Without colour to guide us, we are forced to slow down, to pause, to study, and to make sense of what we are seeing. It demands attention in a way colour never quite does.”

We were delighted to see entries from all year groups, showcasing creativity across the school. Congratulations to our winners:

  • Zachary – Lower School
  • Ivan – Middle  School
  • Artur – Sixth Form

We hope you enjoy their pieces!
