Later today, Friday, Upper Sixth pupils will take to the stage to present their Waynflete Studies to an audience of parents, academics and guests.
The presentations mark the successful conclusion of a year-long study into an area of personal interest. Amongst those taking part are:
The pupils began their Waynflete Study in the Lower Sixth, working under the guidance of world-class academics and specialists to produce an extended piece of research. 174 projects were completed, with topics ranging from whale culture to victim impact statements to French musical identity. Around 50 of the best scripts were assessed by a panel of external judges, which included professors from the University of Oxford, with 10 prize-winners invited to attend a special ceremony at Magdalen College in September.
Unique to MCS, the Waynflete Studies programme stretches and inspires pupils beyond the curriculum. Highly regarded by university admissions teams, it introduces pupils to a university style of research, discussion and feedback and provides excellent preparation for undergraduate study ahead.
