The Waynflete Office has been informed of the death of Robert Bolton. We are grateful to his son Richard for these words about his father:
Robert, a former Head of School, always spoke with incredible fondness of his time at Magdalen College School and the opportunities that his time there presented for him.
He became a successful naval officer reaching Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy, and made the Bar and an illustrious criminal law career as a Barrister.
Robert later moved from the London Chambers to Portsmouth Guildhall and built a financial services company with several hundred clients.
He will be sorely missed by many for the exemplary decorum and integrity he displayed throughout his life and dealings with others. Characteristics I am sure he learned while at MCS.
He really proved to those he interacted with that you can be a generous and honourable businessman across industries and still achieve great success from humble beginnings.
He leaves his wife Michele and his two sons Charles and Richard.
