Dr Nicolas Frederick William Ponting, known to his friends at school as Fred, passed away on 30 May 2014. Fred leaves behind his widow Elfriede, sons John, Alan, Raymond and Keith and step daughters Renate and Irene. A service was held on 5 June at the Greek Orthodox Church in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany.
