Huge congratulations to our 1st XI boys hockey team – crowned 2025 Schools National Hockey Champions after a thrilling final at the Lee Valley stadium today, Friday 25th April.

The boys triumphed against a brilliant Charterhouse side, displaying exceptional skill, spirit and leadership all over the pitch. They were cheered on by four coach loads of delighted MCS supporters, who had headed down to London to watch.

The game opened with a tightly contested first 10 minutes, which saw the score remain level at 0 – 0. Thankfully, a clear shift in momentum put captain, Julian, in the right place at the right time, and when half time whistle sounded, the 1st XI led 1-0. Penalties, saves and goals built in the second half, leading to a frenetic final 15 minutes, which resulted in a further three goals and a final score of 5-1. The 1st XI were crowned National Champions, ending their season unbeaten and maintaining their 100%-win record.

This is the fourth year in a row that an MCS team has appeared in the National finals and today’s success concludes the end of a stellar season for the 1st XI – who earlier in the year had been invited to play in the ‘curtain-raiser’ at the Oxford versus Cambridge Varsity Match. They celebrate alongside the U16A, U14A and U12A teams, which have also enjoyed success this season – the latter two winning the Oxfordshire County Cup in their categories, with the U12As also being crowned Southern Champions.

Thank you to Charterhouse – the toughest and most sporting of opponents – and to everyone at Lee Valley for making this a really special day. Well done boys and MCS Hockey!
