We hosted our annual Primary Maths Challenge yesterday for an afternoon of puzzles, teamwork and mathematical problem-solving. We were pleased to welcome 90 Year 5 pupils from Tyndale Primary School, St Francis Primary School and Pegasus Primary School. The challenge gave pupils a chance to explore Maths beyond the traditional curriculum and discover different ways of approaching a problem.

Working in teams, pupils tackled a range of activities that encouraged them to think creatively and reason logically. MCS pupils were stationed at each table to explain the challenges and support the teams throughout the afternoon. There were plenty of opportunities to share ideas, try different approaches and work through the puzzles together. Alongside stretching their mathematical thinking, the challenges helped pupils build confidence and enjoy the satisfaction of finding a solution as a team.

Thank you to all the pupils and staff who joined us for an enjoyable afternoon. The challenge is one of the ways our partnerships programme brings local schools together to share ideas and learn from one another. Our educational partnerships offer opportunities ranging from primary enrichment activities to subject workshops and careers advice. You can explore our previous partnership news and events here.
