The Waynflete Office has been informed of the death of David Durham at the age of 89. We are grateful to his widow Valerie for sharing these words about his life.

David was a very good sportsman and developed his love and expertise in rowing and rugby at MCS, taking this through his life, rowing for Sandhurst and later taking up squash and golf.

After a busy career in the Royal Engineers, he reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring in 1982. David then spent a few years in local government, followed by five years as General Manager of a London hospital. This was followed as CEO of Companies House and finally as chairman of Cardiff and Vale Hospital Health Board. A warden of his local church not only was he efficient but appreciated by all who met him.
