Congratulations to the Philosothon Team for securing first place in the National Philosothon finals.

The team, drawn from the Sixth Form, Upper Fourth and Lower Fourth, qualified for the final following a highly competitive series of regional Philosothon heats earlier in the year. They went on to take the top spot in a national final that brought together pupils from a range of schools across the country.

Throughout the day, pupils responded to a series of challenging prompts designed to test their depth of thought, clarity of reasoning and collaborative dialogue. They were commended for their mature engagement with complex ideas and their ability to develop arguments in real time.

"We are so proud of the MCS Philosothon Team for winning the National Philosothon against some of the top schools in the country."

James Unwin, Head of Philosophy

James Unwin, Head of Philosophy, said: “We are so proud of the MCS Philosothon Team for winning the National Philosothon against some of the top schools in the country. Discussion topics ranged from inequality to time to the nature of a good life, and our pupils stood out in their groups for a combination of philosophical acuity and collaborative spirit, exemplifying our belief that philosophy is best done in conversation.”

We are extremely proud of all those involved and look forward to seeing their continued development as philosophical thinkers.
