Girls v Bloxham and Tudor Hall

The girls played Bloxham and Tudor Hall in two closely matched fixtures. Alice and Clemmie didn’t drop a set all day, with Claire and Katie losing a tight match against Tudor Hall but winning in a tiebreak to secure a team win v Bloxham. Nell and Sara lost well-fought sets to both sides and only narrowly to Bloxham. Final scores, 1-2 loss v Tudor Hall, 2-1 win v Bloxham. The girls take on St Helen’s and St Katharine’s next Saturday for their round 1 National Schools match.

Cricket

There were internal fixtures this weekend for the U12-U15 age groups in preparation for external fixtures starting this week. In the U15s, Alfie, Raoul and Jimmy were the standout performers in a fixture that went down to the last over. The moment of the day came from Leo, who made a brilliant diving stop and threw down the stumps for a superb run-out.

The U14s also played out an exciting match with either team capable of winning as the last ball was bowled. The U13’s enjoyed two close games down on Merton. Bragging rights go to Alex’s side who managed to defend their first innings total of 131, despite Ben’s best efforts at the end. The U12’s made use of the time out in the middle, on School Field, alongside the U14’s.

We look forward to the fixtures v Bromsgrove this weekend and also wish the 1st XI luck as they begin their National T20 cup campaign at Bradfield on Sunday.

Rowing

Throughout pre-season and the first week back at school, the rowers have been through some tight seat racing. In some cases, there was less than a second between individuals to discover the quickest crews. Now that the seat racing results are in, our crews are focusing on National Schools Regatta at the end of May, with the final race of the season at Henley Royal Regatta in August.

The sailors also enjoyed a great morning out on the water on Saturday with excellent numbers from across a variety of year groups training.

Well done to all involved and we look forward to the first competitive school cricket fixture since 2019 being played this week!
