The Magdalen College School Archive contains a wealth of items and information, from books and works of art to photographs, personal letters and much more besides, giving a wonderful insight into the history of the School and the lives of the people who worked and studied here over the years. Join us to explore a selection of these treasures with our Archivist Lindsay McCormack , Art Archivist Meg Finnis and Director of the Waynflete Office Susie Baker.

A particular draw on this occasion is our guest speaker. Over the course of Michaelmas term 2018, two portraits of former Masters – Harman Chaloner Ogle (1876–87) and William E Sherwood 1888–1900) – have been with conservator Ruth Bubb for restoration. In January they will be returned to the Dining Hall and we are delighted that Ruth is able to join us to speak about the restoration of these paintings.

Parents, pupils, staff, OWs and Friends are warmly invited to join us in the MCS Dining Hall for a short talk, a drink and a chance to look at these objects.

There is no charge for this event, however booking is essential as numbers are limited (click below).
