Catering at MCS is provided by Sodexo. The ethos is to 'deliver fresh food from scratch’ using the finest fresh seasonal produce to provide healthy, tasty and nutritious meals. This includes:

  • freshly battered fish
  • fresh Red Tractor certified British meat
  • home-made fresh soup and bread every day
  • home-baked cakes and biscuits.

Breakfast service: 7.45 am - 8.15 am

For those who arrive early at school we have porridge, toast, cereals, croissants, fruit juices and cooked breakfasts available to purchase for cash.

Break service: 10.55 am - 11.15 am

One lunch slot (registered using a biometric signing service) will provide a two-course meal including a hot main dish (from a choice of two meat- or fish-based and one vegetarian dish) with potatoes, vegetables and full salad bar.

Each day there is a choice of hot and cold desserts and the pupils can also have fruit.

We also offer a packed lunch option at this time for those pupils who have clubs at lunch time but do not want to eat a full lunch at break time.

Lunch service: 1.10 pm - 1.45 pm

At lunch time we offer the same main choice as at break with the addition of soup. At both services pupils can help themselves to freshly made bread. Packed lunches are not available at lunch time. Menus vary on a 3 weekly repeating cycle and change each term.

Tuck shop

The tuck shop is available during break and lunch service, and after school, selling:

  • paninis
  • fruit juices, water and smoothies
  • muffins and flapjacks
  • sweet pastry selection
  • freshly popped popcorn
  • crisps and chocolate.

Aspretto Coffee

We have an Aspretto Coffee outlet in the Sixth Form Centre available to the sixth form and staff. Our trained Barista, Tereza, received a score of 100% on her latest audit of standards and all agree she makes excellent coffee as well as smoothies, iced drinks and the full range of hot drinks. The café also sells paninis, soft drinks, fresh pastries, muffins, flapjacks and the usual selection of crisps and chocolate.

Special Diets

Sodexo are used to catering for pupils with special diets. When your child joins the school, you will be sent a dietary requirements form which we ask you to return. The completed form will be checked by Matron and our Catering Manager to ensure we can cater safely and successfully for any special dietary requirements. If there are any concerns, these can be addressed with the Catering Manager who is also able to rely on the support of the Sodexo dietician.
