Third Form boys visited the Oxford Central mosque to cap off their study of Islam.
The group met with imam Ahsan and other community leaders and had a chance to deepen their understanding of Muslim beliefs and spirituality. The question and answer session was particularly popular, provoking a predictably broad range of topics as the MCS pupils asked about both practical and political matters and metaphysical issues including free will and the origins of the universe. The imam impressed the boys by admitting that as hafiz he can recite the whole Qur’an in Arabic by heart; and gave the boys an opportunity to test his knowledge!
It was another enjoyable and mind-broadening visit that highlighted to us the value and challenges of living in today’s multicultural world.
