Comic book art

As part of this year’s Oxford Festival of the Arts, comic book artist Neill Cameron has worked with local primary schools to encourage young people to find new ways in which to approach literacy and storytelling.

Having worked for The Phoenix comic for several years, his expertise placed him well as the star attraction for our own Junior School boys, as we welcomed Neill for a unique talk, in which pupils were given the chance to navigate their own way through live comic book stories, as well as ask many burning questions about his career and influences.

We were pleased to welcome pupils who had taken part in the Festival of the Arts engagement project to join us for the event, and so a huge thank you must go out to Rose Hill Primary School for being such excellent guests.

Neill Cameron was very recently awarded the 2017 Junior Excelsior Award, for his comic book novel, Mega Robo Bros. This award is voted for by children, and so a real compliment from his target readers.
