MCS welcomed celebrated children’s author Jonathan Stroud for a spooky talk based around his fantasy ghost-hunting book series Lockwood & Co.
Around 250 children from MCS Junior School and other local schools were gripped as Jonathan talked about his own writing and got the children involved in what life is like as a child ghost hunter.
Jonathan is a British writer of fantasy fiction. Among his most prominent works are the best-selling Bartimaeus Trilogy. In 2013, Lockwood & Co.: The Screaming Staircase was released, and quickly achieved high critical acclaim, with the sequel, The Whispering Skull, released in September 2014. Third novel, titled The Hollow Boy, was recently published. The Whispering Skull has been nominated for one of the most prestigious British literary awards – the Carnegie Medal.
Junior School pupil Nolu, who got to dress up as the books' protagonist Lockwood, summed up the feeling of all the children when he said: “The talk was really exciting and inspiring. I hope he comes back soon.”
