On Saturday 26 January, four pairs of debaters took part in the regional round of the Cambridge Schools’ Debating Competition at Cheney School.

The debaters faced motions ranging from banning the consumption of meat to prioritising vocational education, and all of our pairs managed to get some points to their name and learn from the feedback. Particular congratulations goes to our ‘C’ team of Jamie Shepherd and Sammy McDonald for placing second overall in the region and advancing to the Finals’ Day in Cambridge.

Jamie and Sammy's achievement is in the context of continued success in this field - their sisters, Louisa MacDonald and Cara Shepherd, got through to the Oxford Schools Debating Final a couple of weeks ago. The final will take place in March.
