Oxford Festival of the Arts was an initiative in 2008 of Magdalen College School. Now in its ninth year, the Festival offers a broad programme of performances, workshops and talks across the fields of music, theatre, art, film and literature, hosted at the school and in venues across the city.
In 2017, the Festival featured over 100 events, attracted more than 23,000 visitors and involved more than 20 city venues, bringing together the School, the city and the university. In collaboration with the city’s cultural organisations, the Festival aims to celebrate and engage Oxford’s diverse communities, and there is something for everyone, whatever their age, background, or artistic experience.
The two weeks of the Festival simply form the pinnacle of Festival activities: education and community engagement activities run throughout the year. In 2016-17, more than 3,200 children from 40 county schools were involved in projects which had their showcase in the summer Festival.
