Topping out

MCS enjoyed a topping out ceremony for the new Sixth Form Centre, due to be completed for Michaelmas 2017.

The school community gathered on Milham Ford to celebrate the final stages of structural work on the new building project, and pupils, staff and guests were treated to live music and cake!

Master Helen Pike's speech explained the history of the 'topping out' ceremony and thanked the project's generous donors, especially guest-of-honour Mrs Yvonne Pye. Mrs Pye was presented with an Agapanthus plant by Head Boy Sasha Swannell. Donors were also given tours of the new purpose-built four-storey building. With an overall floor area of 1,650m2, the new Centre will add significantly to the Sixth Form experience for students. Social space will be the key feature of the building, which will also include a cafeteria, study space and offices.
